BIOGRAPHY
I have been a Registered Dietitian for over 30 years and am so fortunate to have found this profession. I have worked in many areas of dietetics including as a clinical inpatient dietitian, outpatient dietitian, diabetes educator, home care dietitian, consultant, clinical nutrition manager, and as a program manager for a healthcare website. My areas of interest are in diabetes education, clinical nutrition, and of course, education and supervised practice training for future dietitians. In my current position as the Dietetic Internship Director at SF State, I am privileged to work with wonderfully talented, well-prepared, and passionate students who truly will make a positive impact in this world. I am also privileged to work with wonderful dietitians and other healthcare and food professionals in the field who offer our interns supervised practice rotations in a variety of settings. In addition to teaching at SF State, I have also held leadership positions at the local, state, and national level of the professional dietetic association, and enjoy meeting and working with other passionate nutrition professionals.
When I am not teaching or working with my interns, I enjoy cooking (but not cleaning up), anything related to food (I LOVE grocery stores! produce stores! farmer's markets! restaurants!), reading, birdwatching, tending to my garden or houseplants, hiking, going to the beach, and of course, sharing food with family and friends.
