BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Vouchilas has taught interior design throughout the San Francisco Bay Area for twenty years. He holds a BA and an MA from San Francisco State University and an Ed.D. from the University of San Francisco. His research interests include imagery and its effect on individual perceptions, millennial attitudes toward sustainability, product consumption and re-use, understanding design for children on the autism spectrum and overall inclusive design, and educational pedagogy. He has presented research at the Interior Design Educators Council, The International Conference on the Image, the Family and Consumer Sciences national and state conferences and the Hawaii International Conference on Education. His has published in the International Journal of the Image, The International Journal of Designed Objects, The International Journal of Environmental, Cultural, Economic and Social Sustainability, and the Journal of Family & Consumer Sciences. He is a longstanding member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS), and he serves on the steering committee for the annual Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS (DIFFA) fund raising event.
