Currently, there is low awareness and very few options to repair, recover or reuse damaged garments, so they often end up in local landfills — an estimated <a href="https://nam10.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fsfenvironment.org%2Ftextiles&amp;data=05%7C01%7Ccbu%40sfsu.edu%7C3b28a1f184834feb5a2d08da7be4772b%7Cd8fbe335822c41a987747f16709aac9f%7C0%7C0%7C637958518423807434%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&amp;sdata=3JUt4EoOTvs5%2FTQdUQ%2FgrVSiHp7YsYwL2aVEGIRZ4ig%3D&amp;reserved=0">4,500 pounds per hour</a> in San Francisco. Goodwill sees many valuable, damaged items through community donations and wants better options to get the damaged garments back into the community for reuse to support their sustainability goals and create local jobs.
