Experienced in senior management as a Macys buyer in womenswear and menswear, she later founded her international garment manufacturing and textile sourcing agency, partnering with Japanese fiber and textile giant Teijin Frontier. Her global textile expertise in both traditional and newly emerging fiber and textile innovations will help a new manufacturing industry emerge in SF and the Bay Area. She continues to stay current on new developments in fiber, yarn, textile, and apparel production.

Preparing the next generation to be ready for a rapidly changing apparel industry, both product and retail is her priority.  She is teaching in the Apparel Design and Merchandising program at San Francisco State University. With Dr. Connie Ulasewizc, she organized the 2015 5th International Fiber Recycling Symposium, sponsored by PeopleWearSF and SFSU, bringing together fiber, textile, and design researchers from industry and universities worldwide.  She promotes innovative practices in all aspects of the apparel industry, the world’s 2nd largest industry, that conserve resources, respect labor, and protect our environment.

She is the author of best selling The Fashion Designer’s Textile Handbook (2011, Barron’s Educational Series), now translated into French, with a Chinese version coming soon. She is a contributing author for Sustainable Fashion..What’s Next? , 2nd edition (Hethorn/Ulasewizc, 2015, Bloomsbury Publishing) and numerous book contributions and articles.
