The B.A. in Family & Consumer Sciences enables a student to specialize Child and Family Sciences. The common core of classes enables students to acquire an understanding of family relations/child growth and development as well as the social, and psychological needs of individuals and families. Students pursuing this major may complete field experiences in business, education, industry, government, or private agencies.

Change of Major to BA in Family & Consumer Sciences

The BA in Family & Consumer Sciences invites current students to submit a change of major request to the Department during the following time periods:

  • For Spring term: August 1-October 1
  • For Fall term: January 1-March 1

Prerequisites. Students must have a 2.0 GPA before to be admitted into the program.

All students who have been accepted as a change of major to FCS may start major-only classes the semester following approval of the change of major. Students accepted in the fall semester may begin major courses the following spring; students accepted in the spring semester may begin major courses in the following fall.

Process

Type your information on the Change of Major form & submit with unofficial transcript to the FINA Department in Burk Hall 329.
